ITR-1 Calculator

ITR-1 Tax Calculator

FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27)

For salaried employees. Enter your numbers — we compute tax under both the Old and New regimes and show which saves more. Tax calculation runs entirely in your browser.

Slabs, standard deduction, the 87A rebate and deduction caps update automatically for the selected year and age.

Estimate only — not a filed return. This helps you plan and verify. It can’t be submitted to the Income Tax Department (that’s done on incometax.gov.in). Figures are for a resident individual with total income up to ₹50 lakh. Verify every figure before filing.

1. Personal details

2. Income

From Form 16 (given by your employer).

3. Deductions (Section 80)

Applied under the Old regime only — the New regime ignores these (it has lower slabs instead).

4. Tax already paid

From Form 16 / Form 26AS.

ITR-1 income tax calculator (FY 2025-26 & FY 2024-25) — old vs new regime

Not sure how much income tax you owe, or whether the old or new regime is better for you? This free ITR-1 calculator estimates your tax for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) or FY 2024-25 (AY 2025-26) — pick the year and the slabs, standard deduction and Section 87A rebate update automatically. It shows the old and new regimes side by side and tells you your likely refund or balance — all in your browser, with nothing uploaded.

Note: this is a calculator to help you plan and compare — it is not an official e-filing service and is not tax advice. File your actual return on the government’s official income tax e-filing portal.

How to estimate your income tax

  1. Enter your income — salary or pension, and any other income such as interest.
  2. Add your deductions — investments and payments like 80C, 80D and HRA that you plan to claim.
  3. Compare regimes — the calculator shows the tax under both the old and new regimes at once, so you can see which is lower.
  4. Review and download — check your estimated refund or balance and download a summary PDF to keep or share.

Why use this calculator

  • Old vs new, side by side. See both regimes computed together instead of running the numbers twice, so the cheaper option is obvious.
  • Private. Your salary and deduction figures are processed locally and never uploaded — sensitive financial data stays on your device.
  • Free and no sign-up. No account, no payment and no email required to run the numbers or download the summary.
  • A clear summary. Download a PDF of your inputs and estimated tax to reference when you file or to send to your accountant.

Who it helps

  • Salaried employees. Estimate your tax and decide which regime to declare to your employer or use when filing.
  • Regime decisions. Compare old vs new before the year ends so you can plan your 80C and other investments.
  • Refund estimates. See whether you are likely to get a refund or owe a balance before you file.

Frequently asked questions

Does this file my tax return?

No. This is a free calculator that estimates your income tax and compares the old and new regimes. To actually file your return, use the government’s official e-filing portal at incometax.gov.in.

Is the calculator free?

Yes — it is completely free with no account and no sign-up.

Is my financial data private?

Yes. Every calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded or stored anywhere, so your salary and deduction figures never leave your device.

Old regime vs new regime — which should I choose?

It depends on your deductions. The new regime has lower slab rates but fewer exemptions; the old regime can win if you claim large deductions (like 80C, 80D and HRA). The calculator shows both side by side so you can pick whichever gives you less tax.

Who can use ITR-1 (Sahaj)?

ITR-1 is generally for a resident individual with total income up to ₹50 lakh from salary or pension, one house property and other sources such as interest. The calculator includes a built-in eligibility checker that flags situations outside ITR-1 scope, and its rules update with the year you pick. Confirm your exact form on the official portal before filing.

Which financial years does it cover?

You can switch between FY 2025-26 (assessment year 2026-27) and FY 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26). Each year uses its own slab rates, standard deduction and Section 87A rebate — including the Budget 2025 new-regime slabs where tax is nil up to ₹12 lakh.

What is the new tax regime for FY 2025-26?

Under Budget 2025, the new-regime slabs are: nil up to ₹4 lakh, 5% from ₹4–8 lakh, 10% from ₹8–12 lakh, 15% from ₹12–16 lakh, 20% from ₹16–20 lakh, 25% from ₹20–24 lakh and 30% above ₹24 lakh, with a ₹75,000 standard deduction. A Section 87A rebate makes tax nil for total income up to ₹12 lakh (so effectively ₹12.75 lakh of salary after the standard deduction).

Can I download my calculation?

Yes. You can download a summary PDF of your inputs and the estimated tax for both regimes to keep or share with your accountant.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is an estimate to help you compare regimes and plan. For decisions specific to your situation, consult a qualified tax professional or the official portal.
